๐Ÿค Experience perfectly grilled shrimp with a golden crispy exterior and juicy interior, enhanced by a bright, zesty lemon butter sauce that brings out the natural sweetness of the seafood
๐Ÿ”ฅ Create a restaurant-quality dish in just 15 minutes that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining guests with its impressive presentation and incredible flavor

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

90g (6 tablespoons) unsalted butter

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 teaspoons garlic, very finely chopped

1.5 tablespoons lemon juice

500g (1 lb) large raw, peeled, and deveined shrimp or prawns

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 lemon, halved and grilled if desired

Lemon wedges or slices

2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley

Instructions

1-First, preheat the BBQ grill on high and oil the grill grates well to avoid any sticking. If your shrimp are small, thread them on skewers so they don’t fall through the grates this keeps things easy and mess-free. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to help them crisp up nicely on the grill.

2-Next, prepare the lemon garlic butter sauce by melting 90g unsalted butter over medium-high heat. Add the finely chopped garlic and 1/4 teaspoon salt, stirring until it turns a light golden brown, then remove from heat right away to keep it from burning. Stir in 1.5 tablespoons of lemon juice for that zesty kick.

3-Just before cooking, toss the shrimp gently with garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, lemon juice (if you’re BBQing), olive oil, salt, and pepper. This marinade infuses the prawns with bold flavors without overwhelming them.

4-Place the shrimp on the hot grill and cook for 2 minutes on each side until they’re golden and crisp. Remove them promptly to keep them juicy. Drizzle with the lemon garlic butter sauce, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve right away with crusty bread for dipping. For stovetop cooking, skip the lemon juice in the seasoning, cook the shrimp in 1-2 teaspoons of oil over high heat in batches, and make the sauce in the same pan afterward.

Notes

๐Ÿ”ฅ Make sure your grill is very hot before adding the shrimp – this creates the essential crispy exterior while keeping the inside tender and juicy
๐Ÿ‹ Don’t skip the step of removing the garlic butter sauce from heat immediately when it turns golden – burnt garlic will make the sauce bitter
๐Ÿฆ Pat the shrimp completely dry before seasoning – excess moisture will prevent them from getting that perfect crispy char on the grill
