Ingredients
– 2 cups cherries, fresh or frozen
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 2 tablespoons kirsch or other cherry liqueur
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch
– 2 tablespoons water
– 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter, melted
– 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 4 large eggs, room temperature
– 2 tablespoons kirsch or other cherry liqueur
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
– 3/4 cup cocoa powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup chocolate chunks (optional)
– Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
– Fresh cherries
– Chocolate shavings
Instructions
1-Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
2-In a medium bowl, sift together 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt to ensure even distribution of dry ingredients.
3-In a separate large bowl, whisk together 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 1/4 cups melted unsalted butter until combined, then add 4 large eggs one at a time.
4-Follow by adding 2 tablespoons kirsch or other cherry liqueur and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, mixing well to create a smooth batter.
5-Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until incorporated, and then gently fold in the pitted cherries.
6-Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan and spread it to the edges.
7-Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
8-Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan before slicing.
9-For the cherry sauce, combine 2 cups cherries, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons kirsch in a pot, heat until syrupy, thicken with cornstarch mixed in 2 tablespoons water, then cool and swirl into the brownies before baking.
