Ingredients

1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 even slices

14 oz cake flour, sifted

14 oz sugar

5 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

10.5 oz milk

6 oz egg yolks

1 tsp vanilla extract

8 oz butter, soft

0.5 lb butter for sauce

1 lb brown sugar

Instructions

1-Blend the remaining milk and egg mixture into the batter until smooth and free of lumps. Set it aside for now.

2-Prepare the caramel sauce by melting butter in a skillet, then add brown sugar and stir until smooth. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

3-In a large baking pan, arrange the pineapple slices so they touch each other closely.

4-Spoon even amounts of caramel sauce over each pineapple slice.

5-Pour the cake mixture over the caramelized pineapple slices in the pan.

6-Bake at 325ยฐF for 30 minutes, then turn the cake in the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

7-Remove from the oven and let it cool before flipping the baked cake onto a large platter. Cut into eight even pieces and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
