Ingredients
6 cups puffed rice cereal
One 10 oz bag mini marshmallows
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
10 oz green melting wafers
3 oz black melting wafers
Royal icing eyes for decoration
Black sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
1-First, butter a 9-inch by 13-inch casserole dish to prevent sticking and make removal easier later. Then, melt the 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large pot over low-medium heat until itβs fully liquid.
2-Next, add the one 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows and stir until they melt into a smooth, gooey mixture, which takes just a few minutes.
3-Once smooth, mix in the 6 cups of puffed rice cereal until every piece is evenly coated, creating that classic chewy texture. Press the mixture firmly into the prepared dish and flatten the top for even setting. Let it sit for 30 minutes at room temperature to firm up before removing and cutting into various-sized rectangles for your monster shapes.
4-After that, melt the 10 oz of green melting wafers over simmering water, thinning with a bit of vegetable shortening if the mixture is too thick, then dip the tops of your treats into it and roll them in the black sprinkles for a spooky effect. Add two royal icing eyes to each treat while the green layer is still tacky. Finally, melt the 3 oz of black melting wafers in short microwave bursts and pipe them on as stitches to complete the Frankenstein look, then allow everything to set fully before serving.
