๐Ÿซ The perfect balance of heat and sweetness makes it an ideal cozy treat for any day or night.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

– 2 cups milk (2% recommended, or use whole milk for a creamier texture)

– 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

– 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1/8 teaspoon chili powder

– 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper (optional, for added spice)

– 1 ounce bittersweet chocolate

– marshmallows [optional toppings]

– chocolate shavings [optional toppings]

– a cinnamon stick for stirring [optional toppings]

Instructions

1-Gather all ingredients: 2 cups milk, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/8 teaspoon chili powder, 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper if you want extra heat, and 1 ounce bittersweet chocolate, plus any optional toppings.

2-In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling, which takes about 3-4 minutes.

3-Whisk in the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, chili powder, and cayenne pepper if using, stirring well to avoid lumps and blend the flavors.

4-Add the bittersweet chocolate and continue heating gently for another 5-6 minutes, stirring constantly until everything melts smoothly and the mixture thickens a bit.

5-Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract for that final aromatic touch.

6-Pour into mugs and top with marshmallows, chocolate shavings, or a cinnamon stick if you like.
