Instructions
1-If using fresh peaches, combine sliced peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and juices are released. Remove from heat and set aside.
2-Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Slice butter into pieces and place in a 9ร13 inch baking dish. Place the dish in the oven while it preheats to melt the butter, then remove from the oven.
3-In a large bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in 3/4 cup milk just until combined.
4-Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish.
5-Spoon the peach mixture with juices (or canned peaches with juice) over the batter.
6-Generously sprinkle cinnamon on top.
7-Bake at 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for 38-40 minutes.
8-Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
