Ingredients

– 4 slices thick sliced bread

– 3 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

– 2 tablespoons pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)

– 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

– 1 tablespoon thinly sliced fresh basil leaves

– 1 pinch dried oregano

– 24 slices thin pepperoni (about 1 inch in diameter)

– Butter (amount as needed for spreading)

– 6 slices thinly sliced pepperoni for the optional pepperoni crust

– 2 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese for the optional pepperoni crust

Instructions

1-Butter one side of each bread slice evenly to create that crispy exterior.

2-Place 2 slices of bread, butter side down, in the preheated pan.

3-Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce on each slice in the pan for that classic pizza flavor.

4-Layer on the cheeses, starting with part of the 3 ounces of shredded mozzarella, then add 6 slices of pepperoni.

5-Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of shredded Parmesan, 1 tablespoon of thinly sliced basil, and a pinch of oregano on top for extra taste.

6-Add the remaining pepperoni and mozzarella before topping with the other bread slices, butter side out.

7-Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts completely.

8-Once done, remove the sandwich, then place 3 slices of pepperoni and 1 tablespoon of mozzarella in the pan.

9-Put the sandwich back on top and cook for about 1 minute to form a crispy crust.
