๐ŸŠ Combining fresh fruit and bold red wine, this sangria offers a vibrant and easy-to-prepare beverage to brighten your gatherings.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: About 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 medium apple (cored, skin on, chopped into small pieces)

1/2 medium orange (rind on, sliced into small pieces, large seeds removed; plus more for garnish)

3 to 4 tablespoons brown sugar or 3 tablespoons cane sugar

3/4 cup orange juice (plus more to taste)

1/3 cup brandy (plus more to taste)

750 ml bottle dry Spanish red wine (such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, or Rioja)

Approximately 1 cup ice to chill

Instructions

1-Add the apples, oranges, and sugar to a large pitcher and muddle them with a muddler or wooden spoon for 45 seconds.

2-Add orange juice and brandy, then muddle again to combine for 30 seconds.

3-Add the red wine and stir to combine. Taste and adjust flavor if needed by adding more brandy, orange juice, or sugar.

4-Add ice and stir again to chill.

5-Serve as is or with additional ice. Garnish with orange segments if desired.

6-Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though it’s best when fresh.

Notes

๐Ÿฅƒ Use brandy for traditional aroma; alternatives like rum or orange liqueur are also great.
๐Ÿ“ Add complementary fruits like grapes, peaches, lemons, or berries for variation.
โ„๏ธ Chill the sangria for several hours to meld flavors; add ice to glasses instead of pitcher to avoid dilution.
