Ingredients

– 1 1/4 pounds ground chuck (ground beef can be used as an alternative for flavor)

– 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– Freshly ground black pepper to taste

– 8 ounces egg noodles

– 1/2 cup sour cream

– 1 1/4 cups small curd cottage cheese

– 1/2 cup sliced green onions (amount can be adjusted to taste)

– 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

1-2: Brown the 1 1/4 pounds of ground chuck in a large skillet, then drain the excess fat. Add the 15-ounce can of tomato sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste, letting it simmer as you move on.

3: Cook the 8 ounces of egg noodles until al dente, then drain and set them aside for layering.

4-5: In a separate bowl, mix the 1/2 cup sour cream with 1 1/4 cups small curd cottage cheese, seasoning with black pepper and stirring in the 1/2 cup sliced green onions. Now, in your baking dish, layer half the noodles, half the meat sauce, and half the 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese. Repeat with the remaining ingredients for a hearty stack.
