Ingredients

– 2 cups strawberries (green tops removed)

– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

– 1/3 cup fresh basil (chopped, about 15 large leaves)

– Juice from approximately 6 large lemons (about 1 1/2 cups)

– 6 cups water

Instructions

1-Getting started with this strawberry basil lemonade: is fun and straightforward, with steps that fit into your daily routine. Begin by prepping your ingredients to make the process smooth. This method takes about 10 minutes to heat the strawberry mixture and a total of 15 minutes plus chilling time.

2-First, remove the green tops from the strawberries and chop them. Next, heat the strawberries with the sugar in a medium saucepan on medium-low for about 10 minutes until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. Then, juice the lemons and add the juice to a half-gallon pitcher along with 6 cups of water, stirring well.

3-Roughly chop the basil leaves and add them to the strawberry mixture, stirring it in. Once the sugar is fully dissolved, puree the strawberry and basil mixture until smooth using an immersion blender or standard blender. Add the puree to the pitcher with the lemon juice and water, then stir everything together. Refrigerate the lemonade for at least four hours until it’s cool, and optionally strain it through a fine mesh strainer to remove any bits. Stir well before serving as the mixture can settle.
