If you’re using frozen gandules, there’s no need to thaw them first they can go directly into the pot. Measure out all your seasonings and have your sofrito ready. 2-Second Step: Build Your Flavor Base Place your caldero or Dutch oven over medium heat and add the tablespoon of olive oil. Once the oil shimmers, add your diced country ham or bacon if using.
